Nfua Martina inspiring other women in Nkambe to explore entrepreneurial ventures
HOFNA Cameroon Entrepreneurship, Skills building program: Nfua Martina Kinjo's Success Story
In Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division, NorthWest Region, Cameroon, one woman's determination to make a positive difference has led to a remarkable success story.
Nfua Martina Kinjo, recently embarked on a journey to produce and sell detergents within her community, Nkmabe. Her success is largely attributed to the training she received from Hope for the Needy Association (HOFNA) with support from the German Foreign Office through the German Embassy Yaoundé Cameroon as a part of the enhancing community peacebuilding through trauma healing, economic empowerment and prevention of gender-based violence project specifically the entrepreneurship and skills building component.
"Thanks to HOFNA for empowering me in Nkambe. This is the business I am doing now. I move door to door to sell them here in Nkambe." Nfua Martina said in Nkambe. Through her newfound skills and entrepreneurial spirit, Nfua has not only improved her own financial status but is also making a valuable contribution to the community she calls home. Many were taken by surprise recently as she presented her products during a trade fair in Nkambe. Her outstanding products and charisma won her prizes and a participation in regional activities where she won more prizes.
After participating in the training program organized by HOFNA Cameroon, Martina's passion for community upliftment was ignited. HOFNA provided her with valuable knowledge, practical skills and startup material and financial support for the production of detergents and soaps. Nfua embraced this opportunity wholeheartedly, understanding that it could potentially be a turning point in her life.
Starting her small business venture was not without challenges. She faced issues of limited resources, material and equipment initially, but through determination and resourcefulness, she managed to overcome these obstacles to bring her dream to life. With the support of her family and the guidance she received from HOFNA Cameroon, Nfua became a star at the Nkmabe trade fair.
Martina's initiative quickly gained attention in Nkambe. According to her presentation at the Nkambe grand stand during the trade fair, the locally-made detergents are not only effective but also affordable. "There is a chemical store here where we buy chemicals thus making the products available." She notes
The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Donga Mantung, Simon Nkwenti described the detergents as attractive thus becoming a choice for many residents. By purchasing her products, community members not only supported a local entrepreneur but also contributed to the economic development of Nkambe.
Martina's success story has inspired others within the community to explore their own entrepreneurial ventures.
Beyond the economic benefits, Martina's journey has had a profound impact on her personal growth. The training and the subsequent success of her detergent business have boosted her self-confidence and provided her with a sense of purpose. "I continue to thank HOFNA for what they did to us. I took it very seriously and I don't know if I will ever end it because when I don't produce people start asking in town." Nfua Martina noted
