National Initiative to End Violence Against Women and Girls (NITE VAWg)
(Funded by the German Mission to Cameroon )
The project built the income-generating skills of 100 IDPs from 5 regions of Cameroon on soap production, production of beaded sandals and slippers, and production of reusable sanitary pads. The IDPs trained were given basic start-up materials.
The project also ran a Know Your Rights campaign and training on UNSCR1325 for 400 community leaders in each of the 5 regions, and the 100 IDPS trained. The project allowed for the development of a training manual and comic booklet on GBV and UNSCR1325. Through the project, a first-ever National Workshop on GBV and Localisation of UNSCR1325 in Cameroon was organised in Yaoundé and brought together grassroots women leaders from all 10 regions of Cameroon and engaged them in crafting local action plans to support the implementation of UNSCR1325 in Cameroon.
The project further led a HeForShe Campaign, using march passes and video messages to promote the support of men and men's engagement as partners in putting an end to all forms of GBV and supporting women’s engagement in peacebuilding processes and decision-making at all levels.
